After removing Chinese Hardware Manufacturers from America, the American government is ready to remove Chinese apps from its country. And they are now ready to clear their list of Chinese apps starting from Tik Tok.
If you don't know the history of Tik Tok then, Tik Tok is owned by a Chinese multinational company Byte-Dance, headquarter in Beijing, founded by Zhang Yiming in 2012. Recently Kevin Mayer is hired as a former Disney executive as CEO of Tik Tok and COO of Byte Dance.
From a few years, the American government is concerned over the handling of user's private data by Tik Tok owned Byte Dance, which has a direct connection with the Chinese government. They think that the Chinese government can force the company to process any kind of usage of the user's data.
In a report, Secretory of State Mike Pompeo told to Fox News - “We are taking this very seriously. We are certainly looking at it,” Pompeo said. “With respect to Chinese apps on peoples’ cellphones, the United States will get this one right too.”.
In response to Mike Pompeo's remarks, a Tik Tok spokesperson said “TikTok is led by an American CEO, with hundreds of employees and key leaders across safety, security, product, and public policy here in the U.S. We have no higher priority than promoting a safe and secure app experience for our users. We have never provided user data to the Chinese government, nor would we do so if asked.”
When asked by Fox News to Pompeo, what if Americans still use the app. Then Pompeo said, “Only if you want your private information in the hands of the Chinese Communist Party.”
TikTok says it stores US user data on servers located within the US and backed up in Singapore. Apparently, none of the data centers it uses are located within China.
