Now it is confirmed that Microsoft is ready to buy Tik-Tok, after the ban that President Donald Trump made on August 6, citing the national security risks. After widespread rumors of whether Microsoft will buy Tik-Tok or not. In recent weeks Microsoft confirmed that they are making a discussion with the parent company of Tik-Tok, Bytedance.
The news of buying Tik-Tok gets flame after President Trump announced that they are going to ban the Chinese app Tik-Tok. They also mentioned that they are going to ban other Chinese owned apps too because of the security concerns.
On August 6, President Donal Trump signed an order that banning TikTok from the US unless a deal is struck before September 20. The tech giant nevertheless confirmed that it aims to complete discussions to acquire the service’s US operations “no later than September 15, 2020.”
“Microsoft fully appreciates the importance of addressing the President’s concerns. It is committed to acquiring TikTok subject to a complete security review and providing proper economic benefits to the United States, including the United States Treasury,” the Redmond company said in a blog post.
With the growing prominence of Tik-Tok, US officials are now concerned that the Chinese government can access the data and the content moderation, and they can use the data for their benefits.
What changes Microsoft will make in Tik-Tok:
- Tik-Tok will gain world-class security, privacy, and digital safety protections.
- Tik-Tok will be more transparent for users.
- appropriate security oversight by governments.
- Microsoft will transfer all data of US users from the servers that are outside of the country and deleting the data from the servers that are outside of the country.
What will Microsoft get from this deal:
- After this deal, Microsoft will have another social-networking platform in his basket. Like LinkedIn after making a deal of $26 billion back in 2016.
- By this deal, they can enter the Indian market. Which has huge users.
